What is RHA Redensity®?
RHA stands for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid. RHA Redensity is FDA-approved for injection into the dermis and superficial dermis of the face for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic lines around the mouth, also called perioral rhytids, in adults age 22 and older.
These are often the fine vertical lines that develop around the mouth and can become more noticeable with movement.
RHA Redensity is not intended to be a dramatic volumizing filler. Cam uses it when she is looking for a softer, more delicate treatment around the mouth and may selectively include the lip border based on the patient's anatomy and goals.
RHA Redensity® is FDA-approved for dynamic lines around the mouth. Cam also uses it selectively along the lip border in appropriate patients based on their anatomy and goals.
Why Cam likes RHA Redensity
Cam likes Redensity because of how soft and natural it can look in an area of the face that is constantly moving.

Cam describes Redensity as a thinner, softer product that works particularly well for delicate treatment around the mouth. In her experience, it can soften fine lines and subtly define the lip border while maintaining a natural appearance. Patients may experience relatively modest swelling compared with some fuller-bodied fillers, although swelling, bruising, and individual responses vary.

Is Redensity right for someone who wants fuller lips?
Not necessarily.
If the goal is a substantial increase in lip volume or a noticeably fuller lip, Cam will often recommend a different filler that is better suited for adding volume and structure.
Redensity is one option Cam considers when the priority is more subtle, such as:
- Softening fine lines around the mouth
- Treating lines that appear with movement
- Delicate definition along the lip border
- Maintaining a natural-looking appearance
- Avoiding an overly full or heavy result
Choosing a filler is not simply about picking a brand. Cam evaluates the patient's anatomy, movement, existing volume, treatment history, and desired result before recommending a product.

What does treatment feel like?
Cam applies topical numbing before treatment. The entire appointment typically takes about 30 minutes, including numbing time. For this treatment, Cam uses a needle rather than a cannula.
Patients may notice a quick pinch or sting with the first few injections, sometimes described as similar to a small bee sting. The area generally becomes more comfortable as treatment continues.
When will I see the final result?
The area can look good immediately after treatment, but Cam recommends allowing approximately 2 to 3 weeks for the product and surrounding tissue to settle before judging the final result.
Cam routinely recommends a 2 to 3 week follow-up so she can evaluate the result once everything has settled.
How long can RHA Redensity last?
Results can last up to 12 months, although longevity varies by patient, treatment area, amount used, metabolism, movement, and other individual factors.
What should I expect afterward?
Some soreness, possible bruising, tenderness, and swelling can occur after treatment. Cam's patients often experience relatively modest swelling with the way she uses Redensity, but every patient responds differently and swelling cannot be predicted or guaranteed.
Cam's typical aftercare instructions include:
- Avoid kissing for 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid dental work for approximately two weeks after treatment.
- Avoid vaccinations for approximately two weeks after treatment.
- Follow any individualized instructions Cam provides based on treatment and medical history.
Who may not be a good candidate?
Redensity is not appropriate for every patient or every type of line. Cam may defer treatment for patients who:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an active cold sore, infection, or inflammation around the treatment area
- Have had recent dental work
- Have relevant allergies or other medical contraindications
- Have very deep, severely etched lines that may require another treatment strategy
Cam reviews medical history, previous filler treatment, medications, anatomy, and treatment goals before deciding whether treatment is appropriate.
Natural results start with choosing the right treatment
Cam's goal is not to put the same filler in every patient.
For someone who wants significant lip volume, she may recommend a different product. For someone bothered by fine lines around the mouth or looking for very subtle definition along the lip border, RHA Redensity may be an option worth discussing.
